This accredited, virtual symposium took place on Tuesday 20th July 12:30-13:30 EST; 17:30-18:30 CET. A recording of the event will be available for 90 days at ISTH 2021.

The Practical considerations around the use of TPO-RAs in ITP, Philadelphia (virtual meeting), United States, 20/07/2021-20/07/2021 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 1 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Dr Hanny Al-Samkari is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and clinical investigator in the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Division of Hematology. He also serves as the Associate Director of the MGH Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center of Excellence. His clinical and research interests are in hemostasis, thrombosis, and hemolysis, with focuses in immune thrombocytopenia, HHT, anti-angiogenic therapeutics, and hereditary hemolytic anemias. He also does research into novel indications for the thrombopoietin receptor agonists. He currently serves as PI for several clinical trials in these areas.

Waleed Ghanima is Head of Research and a Consultant Haematologist at Østfold Hospital, Norway and a Professor in the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo, Norway. Dr Ghanima gained his medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Baghdad, Iraq. He joined Østfold Hospital in 2001, becoming a Consultant Haematologist in 2004, assuming his current position as Head of Research in 2014. Professor Ghanima’s main research field is venous thrombosis and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). He has published more than 120 articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Hillary Maitland is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the division of Hematology Oncology at the University of Virginia Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center in Charlottesville Virginia. Her clinical focus is in the treatment of patients with non-malignant hematologic conditions, particularly those with disorders of hemostasis. She leads the hospital’s quality coalition for anticoagulation and thrombosis prevention. Her research focus is on quality and safety of anticoagulant therapies, treatment and prevention of thrombosis.
